Build 1406-1420, it was the Imperial Palace of the last two dynasties, the Ming and the Qing dynasties for almost 500 years. As the name implies, few people could enter it's walls. It was the home of 24 Emperors but cease to be such in 1912 with the abdication of Puyi, the Last Emperor (as in the movie with this title).
