All of the buildings were made of wood using no nails and all the floors, steps, inner walls were carved of white marble from the quarries of western China. These have aged quite a bit in 600 years but many of the buildings were painted for the 2008 Olympics. All the roofs were terracotta tiles most of which have survived 600 years.
