The Ming Dynasty built a wall around Xian 30 ft high and 42 feet wide 635 years ago and it stands totally intact to this day. You can rent a bike and ride around it. It is 8.5 miles in length though the city reaches far out beyond that original wall today. There is a moat around it as well and it is so formidable that an enemy has never attacked it in its 635 years.
